The Hinton family invites everyone to attend their 100th Anniversary Celebration this weekend in Plummers Landing. They have planned three days of events to commemorate the past century of their business and to highlight Kentucky agriculture.
“This will be a fun, family friendly event,” said Adam Hinton, vice president of Hinton Mills. “There will especially be a lot of activities that kids will enjoy, but really, there’s going to be something for just about everybody.”
“We just feel so honored that we get to celebrate this milestone,” he said. “And we realize that there’s no way we would have gotten here without the support of our customers and Hinton Mills team members over the decades. This is our way of saying thank you to the community.”
Events will kick off Friday evening at 5 p.m. with a cruise-in, touch-a-truck with Hinton Mills trucks, cane pole fishing tournament, farm dog barn hunt exhibition, hay ride, and outdoor kid’s movie.
Saturday will be a full day, starting with a fundraising breakfast for the Muses Mill and Hillsboro Fire Departments, a cornhole tournament (sign up in advance at any Hinton Mills location), more cane pole fishing, and a complimentary customer appreciation and employee recognition lunch.
After lunch, there will be live music all afternoon, and visitors can explore ag heritage displays and demonstrations, which will include cow milking, forging, wool spinning and more.
Saturday evening events will include a 1918-themed fair with kids’ games, pony rides, and a Ferris wheel. Saturday will conclude with fireworks by the world-famous Rozzi fireworks company, who also does the WEBN fireworks show each year. There will be a tent church service Sunday morning at 10 a.m. All are welcome.
All events are free, except the cornhole tournament, which is a $20 registration fee per team. Complimentary popcorn and ice cream will be available during the Friday night event, and the customer appreciation lunch on Saturday will also be complimentary. Additional food options will be available for purchase from local vendors and food trucks set up on site.
