Maysville Academy provides additional school choices
The Maysville Academy was established in 2012 in downtown Maysville to provide rigorous academic instruction to children ages 5 through 17, Kindergarten through 12th Grade. Now in its 6th year, the primary goal of the school is to offer additional school choice to parents living in this region who place a high value on quality education emphasizing science, technology, music, arts and literature. By being independent of government-directed mandates and lesson plans, the Maysville Academy has the freedom to promote traditional values, critical and creative thinking, good manners and citizenship. The tuition-based private school is supported in large part by Carlson Software, which contributes to the school programs in the area of math, science and engineering.
The school campus on Third Street occupies two nearly identical “ante-bellum” buildings, both from 1838, with extensive backyards including a formal courtyard. The very environment is “old world” and enriching, elevating. The neighboring First Christian Church of Maysville offers the school use of its indoor basketball court. The Maysville Academy believes strongly in the value both of disciplined education as well as fresh air and recess time, so outdoor breaks are frequent and encouraged. The Saint Patrick School has very generously offered the students of Maysville Academy permission to participate on their sports teams, which greatly expands physical education opportunities.
Carlson Software recognizes that education in all regions of United States is under extreme pressure to conform to a progressive agenda directed from the top down. Carlson Software has achieved its success here in Maysville by embracing capitalism and competition, by working hard and providing service, building the business over time based on old-fashioned values of persistence and faith. These values, now under assault, actually work and are the surest pathway to success. Carlson Software wishes to instill these values in the students of Maysville Academy.
Carlson believes in education and hires professionals with strong academic records primarily in the sciences. Many Carlson employees are graduates of the prestigious Gatton Academy in Bowling Green. The Maysville Academy can be considered a training ground for young people considering applying to Gatton Academy or the Craft Academy in Morehead, both emphasizing STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) in their programs. It is hoped that some of our students might even consider careers at Carlson Software sometime in their future.
With steady growth in students and teachers, Carlson plans to take Maysville Academy to the next level. Help us grow and continue to provide a unique and needed educational service to our community. Contact the Maysville Academy at (606) 703-6632.
