Fleming County Court Days to Expand in 2018
The Fleming County Rotary Club is eager to announce that the 2018 Fleming County Court Days will take place Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7 in downtown Flemingsburg. Last year we saw increased growth and participation through the addition of the Talent Show and the Tractor Show, and in 2018 both events will return better than before. We are also excited to share a lineup of new events that will continue to grow this great fall festival tradition.
Barbeque Cook-Off
The main objective of Court Days is to involve our community partners, as well as those in our local area, in order to have most complete experience possible for those attending. The Fleming County Chamber of Commerce has answered this call and will be hosting a Barbecue Cook-Off Competition. Vendors will compete across several categories, while also selling their food to the public. We are grateful for the Chamber and their commitment, as this will bring new vendors and more barbeque-lovers to Flemingsburg.
Haunted
Halloween
5K Run/Walk
You’ll want to grab your running, walking or party shoes for this! The Fleming County 4-H will be presenting a Haunted Halloween themed 5K Run/Walk that will take place on Saturday night. Put on a costume, bring your friends and the whole family, as you take a trip through downtown Flemingsburg. This event is not timed, making it ideal for both experienced runners and first-time participants. We welcome walkers and runners of all ages, shapes, sizes and speeds. A live DJ will be on stage to motivate you along the 3.1 mile course full or props, lights and entertainment.
Cornhole
Tournament
If you’ve been dominating cornhole games at family get-togethers for years, are you ready to compete for the chance to win prizes and a tournament title? The Rotary Club will be sponsoring the 2018 Court Days Cornhole Tournament to take place on Court Day weekend. Have an afternoon of fun as you compete for the chance to win the tournament title and cash prizes. Whether you would be considered the tournament favorite or a Cinderella story, this tournament is wide open for the taking.
Kids Carnival Park
This year we’re making it a point to have entertainment and fun for the entire family. Kids will have a dedicated carnival park where they can enjoy bounce houses, obstacle courses, rock walls, paddle boats, large slides, a big swing, carnival games, food, prizes and more. This is the perfect place to let the kids run around and have some fun while the entire family takes in the Court Day experience.
2nd Annual Fleming County Talent Show
The Talent Show is back for the second straight year, as we look to showcase the talent around our area. Contestants will be competing for numerous prizes among the $500 grand prize. This year will feature a new format and will include a fan vote! Whether you’re 9 or 90 years old, can sing, clog, or just like to tell some jokes, this is the perfect place for you to show your talent. More information, including registration, will be available soon.
Fleming County Pageant
The Fleming County Pageant has been a big event for Court Days for a number of years and we are glad that Stephanie Willoughby has agreed to head this event again in 2018. Toddlers all the way to teenagers will compete in numerous categories for an assortment of titles. You’ll want to make sure that your child or grandchild is there to be a part of this event this year.
Sunday Morning Community Worship Service
To kickoff our Sunday morning, we are continuing our Sunday Morning Community Worship service downtown. The worship service will be conducted by Kevin Cornette of Mayslick Baptist and will feature singing by multiple groups and individuals.
