Local veteran invents new implement
Joe Harvey demonstrates how the AGM basket implement front gate assembly opens and closes which makes loading and unloading easy while wife, Nancy operates the tractor.
A Fleming County veteran has created a special piece of farm equipment that makes his farming easier and can help make your farm, garden, landscape or construction, work easier too.
Joe Harvey, of Ewing, is a problem solver and has a patent pending on a piece of farm equipment that will make all types of farm work easier and more productive for everyone.
Joe and wife Nancy are owners of AGM Products and have invented the AGM basket implement, a utility basket that does the work of both a trailer and a bucket.
The bucket mounts on the front of a tractor or Bobcat and thus loads, lifts, transports and dumps like a bucket. It also holds large volumes like a trailer. It’s easy to mount and can help perform any task easier, safer and especially so in tight places. The front-gate-assembly on the basket can be opened or quickly removed for easier loading, and the basket can be used as a safe and strong work platform.
Joe’s military-service connected disability made farming difficult.
“I saw a need, I’ve done this from an early age.” He said. “I would analyze the problem and come up with a solution.”
As the son of a Grant County sharecropper, Joe started inventing at the age of 12.
He loved math and was an inventor by nature, so he was already looking for solutions to help his family’s tobacco crop. He came up with an invention where he could measure the acres as accurately as possible for the family’s advantage.
Joe has since developed dozens of inventions and many of them have been patented and classified for the Military and Federal government.
While recuperating from surgery Joe wanted to find a way to be able to do the work that had to be done around their spacious country property, and wanted to find a way to help Nancy, who was taking on more responsibility.
Nancy loves the basket and uses it for chores on the farm, as well as her large flower garden.
“The basket made it so easy to collect the extra large creek rocks for my flower garden.” Nancy said. “I can just flip them into the gate and close it.”
The AGM basket has helped the couple enjoy life to the fullest.
“Nancy is my muse. Without her inspiration I honestly don’t think that I could find external inspiration to accomplish anything,” Joe said. “Our home is our Zen. I love living here on our farm because there is always something more to do, it’s fulfilling.”
Joe has an eye for detail and with a PHD in physics, he knew quality of the product and affordability was as important as the AGM baskets implement’s practicality.
Joe and Nancy are excited to be offering the AGM basket implement to their extended farming family with a wide variety of models for all your needs: Home and Garden model- $1,200; Landscape model-$1,400; Farming model-$1,550; and Construction model-$1,650
