Fleming-Mason Energy working hard to serve its communites

One of many activities during the FME festivities was the face painting.

Fleming-Mason Energy hosted its 79th annual meeting and member appreciation day Thursday, June 22 in Flemingsburg.

FME has always been guided by strong leadership and current president and CEO Joni Hazelrigg continues this tradition.

“This has been such a wonderful turnout, we appreciate our customers and we thank them. We will continue to work hard to serve our communities,” she said while greeting people as they arrived.

FME employees didn’t just keep the lights on that day as they always do, they were key to the success of the event, assisting with parking, preparing and serving food, handing out free gifts and making everyone feel welcome.

“Our employees are wonderful, they care about our members,” Hazelrigg added.

The event began with registration inside the spacious FME building with a delicious meal served in the conference room. Everyone received a bucket full of useful household and energy-saving items and were then encouraged to visit the many friendly exhibitor booths.

Children’s activities were the highlight of the event for many and kid’s activities included games, a giant inflatable slide, face painting, caricaturist, Danny Whalen, a special appearance by Smokey the Bear, and prize drawings throughout the day followed by the annual meeting and the introduction of the 2017 Scholarship winners.

Fleming County Chamber of Commerce executive director, Crystal Ruark was one of several community leaders, with a vendor booth, who enjoyed the day.

“I think the day was a huge success,” she said. “The kids had a field day and there was something for everyone.”

The day was full of laughter and smiles of kids and adults alike, ending with the grand prize drawing.

Fleming-Mason Energy is proud to call this community home and is a member-owned electric cooperative proudly serving more than 17,500 members and counting.
