Blackberry Festival coming soon to Carlisle
If you are at all familiar with Carlisle, you’ve heard of the late, great tradition of the Blackberry Festival – a Nicholas County staple. This year, Carlisle proudly celebrates the 71st year of this iconic week of fun, food, and good music for all to enjoy from Monday, June 26 to Saturday, July 1.
This year’s festival will host a variety of events, as usual.
Monday and Tuesday start the fun with Jarrod Stratton – sharing live music in front of the courthouse from 8-11 p.m. both nights.
Wednesday features music of the gospel genre by Solid Ground.
The annual festival parade will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. and will include many local school teams, government officials, and local volunteer groups, and will conclude with the crowing of the 2017 Blackberry Queen on the courthouse square. Cool Country will provide music after from 8 p.m. until midnight, and again on Friday from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Saturday will feature the July Summer Concert Series starting at 6 p.m., and a firework show visible from downtown to follow. Hippy Grass will be the featured artist, and will play 60s, 70s, and Bluegrass music.
Each night the event will have a variety of amusement park games and rides, and an armband for one night of fun will cost only $13 a night. Food venders will be set up along the perimeter of the courthouse, and will provide a variety of different entrees, southern comfort food, and tasty desserts.
If you have never experienced the fun and excitement of the Blackberry Festival for yourself, bring the family down to the Carlisle courthouse lawn June 26 through July 1, support hometown business, enjoy some great food, have some fun at the many great rides, and take part in community fellowship that is unapparelled at any other event all year. We hope to see you there!
