Johnson visits Neal Building in Carlisle

By Isaiah Johnson

Are you interested in American History? I got the privilege to visit the Neal Building in Carlisle.

I got to learn about the history of Carlisle and Nicholas County. I got to see many displays about Veteran’s and history about my county.

I learned about Veteran’s and the Nicholas County Blue Jackets were back in the day Musketeers.

Two veteran’s were at the Neal Building when we visited. They were Mr. Pfansteil and Mr. Wilson. Mr. Pfansteil was our tour guide for the whole tour. He was there at the building in his uniform.

Mr. Pfansteil is a really great veteran. He told us that one of our teachers is kin to another veteran, Allen Hopkins.

Our teacher did not know the story on how he was kin to Allen Hopkins. At the beginning of the tour he showed uniforms that each veteran wore. That was my favorite part of the veteran’s display.

Another veteran who was not in uniform, told us about the uniform you would wear if you were in the Navy. He showed us what the three stripes on the back of the Navy uniform represented. They represented the three branches of government. Last year they let us guess the uniforms if they were Air-force, Navy, etc.

Besides seeing the veteran’s display we got to see another part of the Neal Building.

This is what I will be talking about in this paragraph. My other favorite part was seeing that our county used to be the Musketeers, and not Blue Jackets. I tried to look for my grandma, Alice Faye, and I eventually found her.

Also when I was looking for her I saw she once used to be class president. I never knew was once president of her class.

In conclusion I have told you all about my experience getting the chance to visit the Neal Building in Carlisle.

I really enjoyed learning about the rich history in Carlisle and Nicholas County in the state of Kentucky. I liked getting to see the veteran’s and other displays showing what it was like in the past.

I would like to thank my dad for letting us get to come down to the Neal Building.

I thank you for your time, and maybe we can visit the building again in the future.
