Mayor Hunt announces sidewalk removal program
Owingsville mayor Gary Hunt announced at the March city council meeting a program which will provide savings for property owners when replacing old sidewalks located on their property.
City residents have always been responsible for the condition of public sidewalks located on their property. Several homeowners have replaced their sidewalks over the past few years which not only reduced their liability but also added to the beauty of their property.
The City of Owingsville is announcing a special Sidewalk Removal Program effective until June 30, 2017.
The City will break up the old sidewalk and haul it away IF the homeowner agrees to install a new sidewalk in its place. The homeowner may do the work or hire a contractor. There is no charge for the City to remove and haul away the old sidewalk. This offer is only available for the replacement of public sidewalks and not for private sidewalks which are not intended for the use of the general public.
If you are interested in participating in this program, stop by City Hall and pick up a program application and information sheet or you may call 606-674-6361 if you have any questions.
