Vice’s Corner Market opens for business New restaurant, gas station and convenient store
A new restaurant, gas station and convenient store recently opened on the corner of Hwy. 36 and Route 11 on the Bath-Nicholas County line.
Vice’s Corner Market is owned and operated by Mark and Mona Vice.
Mona Vice is no stranger to the restaurant business.
She ran the Tasty Freeze in Carlisle across from Tracks Restaurant right out of high school and her uncle George Garrett was the owner of Garrett’s Restaurant in Carlisle.
Her father-in-law, Cliff Vice, bought the restaurant from the Tabors and needed someone to run it.
Vice was ready to give up her job traveling western Kentucky with a medical records company and already had the Polka Dot Elephant store open in Carlisle, so taking on the restaurant made sense.
“It was time to stay home,” said Vice, “I’m enjoying the sewing classes and quilt making at the Polka Dot Elephant and am excited to get back to that this summer once we get the restaurant up and running.”
Pam Frederick who used to cook at Garrett’s and Sunny’s Restaurant will be helping in the kitchen, along with Becky Bautista who worked at the Main Street Deli in Carlisle.
Vice’s Corner Market is offering breakfast sandwiches and a breakfast plate including meat, eggs, toast and biscuits and gravy.
At lunch time they offer a different special daily for $5.25 plus a drink.
Dinners they are focused on grill related items like hamburgers, cheese burgers, homemade pimento cheese sandwiches, fries, onion rings and salads.
As business picks up they plan to add weekend dinner specials like Mexican and Italian.
Their homemade pies have been selling like hotcakes.
They are also offering homemade cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing and a different “pie of the day”.
Vice’s Corner Market will be open from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
