TRACKCATS start season at Kentucky Nutter Field House

The 2017 TRACKCATS opened their season competing at the University of Kentucky Nutter Field House in the Wildcat Classic Indoor Meet. This was the largest group of Bath Co athletes to make the trip to Lexington for the annual January meet with nine boys and 18 girls participating. Both teams ran well for the early season with seventeen athletes competing at the Field House for the first time and nine athletes setting Personal Indoor records.
For the Girls in the 60 Meter Dash Erin Barker finished with a 9.86, Emma Crouch 10.63 and Lexie Crouch at 12.18. Joanna Ott finished the 60 Meter Hurdles in a time of 12.59, Makayla Blackburn crossed the line at 12.66 and Caroline Whitt at 14.73. Joanna Ott finished the 200 Meter Dash in 32.82 and Hannah Martin recorded a 39.78. In the 400 Meter Dash Amelia Oldfield finished at 1:14.31, Kylee Strange at 1:20.43 and Cristina Oney at 1:27.56. Carrie Staviski set an IPR in 800 Meter Run with a 2:42.72, Isabella Copher clocked a 2:53.37 and Hannah Bussell ran 2:56.97 to set a IPR. The Girls 4x400 Relay Team of Amelia Oldfield, Kylee Strange, Cristina Oney and Makayla Blackburn finished with a 5:24.29. The 4x800 Meter Relay Team of Carrie Staviski, Hannah Bussell, Isabella Copher and Joanna Ott finished with a 12:37.49. In the Long Jump both Kirstyn Strange and Jaycie Bussell recorded IPR as Strange jumped 8-09.75 and Bussell 8-05.75. All three Shot Put throwers established IPR as Madelyne English recorded a 25-02.50, Kaylee Purvis a 22-1.25 and Kiki Howard a 19-11.50.
For the Boys Layne Easton finished the 60 Meter Dash in a time of 8.13 and Dawson Walden at 8.67. Eric Townsend recorded a 33.87 in the 200 Meter Dash. In the 400 Meter Dash Bryson McCarty crossed at 1:03.97 and Dawson Walden at 1:05.18. Dakota Begley set an IPR in the 800 Meter Run finishing at 2:24.81 and Taylor Purvis finished at 2:43.28 also establish an IPR. James Overholser and Cameron Vincent competed in the 1 Mile Run with James finishing at 5:50.48 and Cameron at 5:59.80. Dawson Walden, Eric Townsend, JD Howard and Bryson McCarty made up the 4x400 Relay Team and finished at 4:32.66. The 4x800 Meter Team of James Overholser, Cameron Vincent, JD Howard and Dakota Begley finished with an 11:11.88. Layne Easton recorded a 14-09.75 Long Jump and James Overholser jumped 11-10.50.
The teams will return to some pre-season conditioning and compete again Feb. 18 at the Mason County Indoor Track Complex in preparation for the March 4 KTCCCA Indoor State Championship once again at Mason County.
