Ewing native Steward named MSC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Fleming County High School graduate Troy Steward has been named the Mid-South Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
COLUMBIA – Georgetown College standout Troy Steward is the Mid-South Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Houchens Industries is the sponsor of the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Houchens Industries was founded in 1917 and is one of the largest employee-owned companies in the United States with more than 18,000 corporate-wide employees.
A sophomore guard who graduated from Fleming County High School, Steward led No. 2 Georgetown to a 122-63 win over Ohio-Chillicothe in the Tigers’ lone contest last week.
He scored 40 points for Georgetown College, shooting 14-of-20 from the floor and making eight of his 13 three-point field goal attempts.
Steward also chipped in with four steals, three rebounds and one assist for the Tigers.
Georgetown moved to 13-1 on the season.
Steward earned his second player of the week honor of the season and of his career.
