YMCA members making improvements
The Carlisle-Nicholas County YMCA is making upgrades thanks to its members. Patrons this week watched the installation of a new 48” Smart TV in the group exercise room.
The TV and additional exercise equipment are being paid for by donations from YMCA members Gene Kelley, Leon Riggs, John Anderson, Custer Blair, Pam Randolph, Susan Flanigan and employees Shawna Walter and JoAnn Linville.
The TV will be used for video exercise classes. Members can come in during regular hours to take any class they wish. YMCA director Shawna Walter was thrilled with the generous donations. “The staff has been showing the videos on a laptop on the counter in the back exercise room, so the new set up will offer a much improved experience,” Walter said. Live classes at 6 p.m. and yoga at noon on Thursdays will still continue to use the room.
A raffle is currently going on that members and the public can participate in. Local artist Larry Mitchell donated two handmade wooden baskets and Sandy Livingood donated a beautiful Christmas ribbon wreath. Raffle tickets are still available for $2 per ticket or three tickets for $5 at the YMCA. The winning ticket will be drawn Friday morning, Dec. 16, at the YMCA open house. The winner need not be present to win.
The YMCA Member Appreciation Open House will be Thursday, Dec. 15 from 4-8 p.m., and Friday morning Dec. 16 from 6-11 a.m. Members and the public are invited to share snacks and Christmas cheer.
