Cross Country Boys and Girls Compete at KHSAA State Meet
2016 Boys Team: Zack Martin, Tanner Whitten, Taylor Purvis, Cameron Vincent, Bryce Williams, Dakota Begley, James Overholser and Caleb Bowen.
2016 Girls Team: Jaycie Bussell, Kristin Riddle, Carrie Staviski, Abby Henderson, Hannah Bussell, Cristina Oney, Isabella Copher, Makayla Blackburn and Caroline Whitt.
The Girls and Boys Cross Country teams competed in the KHSAA State Cross Country Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park Saturday afternoon. The Class AA event saw 207 girls and 229 boys. The girls finished 18th and the boys 28th in the team standings.
The Boys were led by sophomore James Overholser’s 156th place finish in a time of 19:29.67. Junior Bryce Williams finished 186th crossing the line at 20:05.90. Cameron Vincent finished in a time of 20:44.47 placing 202nd to complete his junior year. Senior Tanner Whitten placed 215th finishing at 21:41.57. Freshman Taylor Purvis finished at 22:36.61 to place 225th. Caleb Bowen and Dakota Begley started the race but did not finish due to injuries.
Carrie Staviski, a junior, led the girls with a 37th place finish in a time of 21:08.43. Sophomore Abby Henderson placed 40th in a time of 21:12.58. Hannah Bussell, completing her senior year, finished 138th in a time of 23:14.10. Junior Kristin Riddle placed 149th at 23:35.80. Freshman Caroline Whitt finished 194th at 26:12.86. Jaycie Bussell, an 8th grader, finished 201st at 28:29.69. Makayla Blackburn placed 205th at 30:19.28.
