Groundbreaking ceremony for boat ramp
Bobby Ratliff, Jim Tom Trent, Rick Stiltner, Walter Blevins, Anthony Orr, Kim Hunt Price, Bill Lorenz, Bobby C. Rogers, Andy Barr, Brent Frizzell, Jimmy Craig, Jamie Cline, Millard Petitt, David Bruce and Charles Bush, prepare to turn over the sod during the ground breaking ceremony for the Stoney Cove Boat Ramp.
A ground breaking ceremony was held at the Stoney Cove Boat Ramp site Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m.
“Several federal, state and local dignitaries were on hand to congratulate the Bath County Fiscal Court and to show their appreciation for federal funding through Congressman Barr’s Office for this project.
We’d also like to thank Gail Wright and her team at the GADD for all of their efforts to make this a reality for not only the people of Bath County but surrounding areas as well. This was a part of our platform from the campaign two years ago and we hope the beginning of more good things to come in this area including the only handicapped fishing pier on Cave Run Lake, a possible P3 project for a marina and a resort on the Caney site. By mid November we expect machinery to be moved in by the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and the project should be complete by the spring of 2017. The dam at Cave Run has the year 1969 on it and now, 47 years later, there will be access from the Bath County side of the dam” Bath County Judge Executive Bobby Rogers said.
