Richardson’s Funeral Home celebrated 30 years by hosting a community event Saturday, Sept. 17.

Gospel groups The River’s Edge and God Sent performed and the highlight of the day was Preacher Bill Holeman and his friends Henry and Homer.

Refreshments were served, including a beautiful cake made to look like Richardson’s Funeral Home made by The Cake Lady LLC of Stamping Ground and Chickabiddy provided their signature frozen yogurt treats for all to enjoy.

The slight rain didn’t dampen the day as people filled the tent outside for the festivities; young or old, everyone enjoyed the celebration.

The hit of the day was preacher Bill Holeman, a ventriloquist, who has been performing for church groups and schools since 1954. His humorous and spiritual act features the beloved mannequins Henry and Homer, whom many remember seeing at local schools years ago. Several people of older generations recalled seeing the skit as children and at age 87, preacher Bill is just as active as he was all those years ago.

This event wasn’t just a celebration of 30 years as a business as much as it was a community event enjoyed by all.
