Swing on Main makes for one magical evening

The 12th annual Swing on Main is set to take place Saturday, Sept. 17 in downtown Flemingsburg.

Each year local and surrounding businesses and community leaders have chosen to sponsor a table to decorate based on a theme.

The funds from sponsored tables go towards the cost of hosting the event.

This year’s theme is your “Favorite Era,” so it’s possible you may run into a Native American, a groovy hippy,or a swingin’ flapper with their table all decked out with items from each sponsors favorite era.

With each table decorated, the middle of downtown is turned into a magical place for an evening of nostalgic fun and entertainment.

The event is free for the public to attend and for those who wish to take part in the table decorating contest there is a 100 dollar sponsorship fee.

“Right now we only have a few sponsors committed,” Discover Flemingsburg’s Main Street manager, Crystal Ruark said. “Although Swing On Main is free for the public to attend, the funding to host this event comes from our sponsors.”

If you are not able to participate in the table decorating or attend you can donate a sponsorship to your local church, school or community club.

In addition to live music performed by Fat Head Davis the event will also feature local vendors to serve up some tasty treats.

Members of the Fleming County High School Bowling Team will be selling Rob Earlywine’s famous fish sandwiches along with hot dogs and nachos.

Rob Vice will be on hand to DJ for local guest performances before the live band takes the stage.

The table judging will begin at 6:30 and Fat Head Davis will take the stage at 7 p.m.

Bring your lawn chairs and get ready for a night of fabulous fun, food, and a street dance to cap off the evenings event.

If you would like more information about sponsoring a table this year contact Crystal or Melanie at the Chamber of Commerce at 606-845-1223.
