As the evening got underway,Mike King welcomed the crowd and introduced the band.
“We appreciate ya’ll being here tonight, looks like we have a good crowd. I want to introduce the musicians that make up Kickin’ Country Grass, to your far right is Mr. Johnny Royce on lead guitar and vocals, Jackie Reeves, base guitar and vocals, on the banjo tonight is Larry Fraley, also on rhythm guitar is Jesse Bush, Tim Hazelbaker on Mandolin, and I’m Mike King, I also play rhythm guitar and sing. We hope ya’ll enjoy the music we’ve chosen for you tonight,” King said.
The band opened with a lively bluegrass tune then continued with some old favorites such as “Rollin’ in My Sweet Babies Arms,” “Man of Constant Sorrow,” “Worried Man Blues,” “Travlin’ The Highway Home,” and “Ain’t Gonna Be Treated This Way” just to name a few.
A special announcement was also made during the evening as Adult Services Librarian, Beverly Cooper, invited everyone to come out for a fun time during the first ever Karaoke Night at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19 at the Fleming County Library.
With more request from the audience than time allowed, Kickin’ Country Grass closed the evening with “Stroll Over Heaven With You.”
