Jay Whitehead and Allen Thomas, with the help and support of their family and friends, have proudly opened Camp Sousley Military Adventure Camp, located at 1083 Mt Hope Road in Fleming County.
The campground has been redesigned to accommodate youth between the ages of 12 - 18 who are interested in learning a more about the military lifestyle or who are interested in challenging themselves. Each cadet participates in marching drills, obstacle courses, water safety drills, repelling as well as other military tactical and extraction techniques.
Camp Sousley offers two week programs through the summer in four different areas of adventure. They are also working on weekend experiences for later in the year.
Camp Sousley is making itself available to the public too. They are currently building a shooting range that will be open to the police and public to use. They rent out their facilities and cafeteria for family reunions or retreats. Camp Sousley also has a 12 bedroom hotel on the back of the property. Each room can be rented by contacting them.
The entire staff at Camp Sousley is enthusiastic about all the opportunities here in Fleming County and honored to take their name from local United States Marine, PFC Franklin R. Sousley, who was killed in action March 21, 1945.
