Trade Days set to take place this Saturday in Owingsville

In an effort to revive one of Bath County’s favorite community events, Tom Byron has decided to try and revamp the tradition of Trade Days in Owingsville.

“I have often thought it would be nice to bring back some of the fun things that used to take place here in Owingsville. After reading the nostalgic memories that Angel Shrout shared in her column about the festivals and events that once took place, I realized we need to bring some of those events back to life,” Byron said. Trade Days is one of those events that the entire community once enjoyed and would be a good event to bring back to the community,” Byron added.

During the summer and fall months the City of Owingsville will host Trade Days the first Saturday of each month.

The first Trade Days event is set to take place this Saturday, June 4, during the hours of 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on North Court Street.

Members from the Amish Community will offer homemade ice cream and Gary Boyd will be on hand to cook up some tasty ribs and tenderloin on the grill.

For those who love to hunt for treasures or to maybe find a bargain, there will be vendors set up with flea market items.

It takes community attendance and involvement for an event to be successful enough to continue each year, and without a good turnout and public interest, those events become distant memories of what used to be.

“We would love to keep Trade Days a fun day for the whole community to come out and enjoy. While we have a few vendors committed to get the first one going this Saturday, we would love to have more vendors join us,” Byron said.
