The City of Carlisle will welcome a new business on Friday, May 6, as the Main Street Deli and Sandwich Shop opens for business at 118 East Main Street.
The new place will feature a wide selection of Boar’s Head meats, cheese, mustards, sausages, Bratwurst, prepackaged meats as well as made to order fresh sandwiches, soups, salads and baked goods.
The Deli will also feature yeast rolls for dinner and cinnamon rolls, and cherry and apple pastries for breakfast.
Besides cut meats and cheeses the deli will also offer jams, bread seasonings, olive oil and balsamic vinegars, hummus, and cheeses like gouda, brie, havarti, goat and parmesan, and of course Charlie’s Beer cheese products.
Baker Bill has been testing the ovens on-site this week turning out oatmeal raisin and oatmeal, chocolate chip pecan cookies. He’ll be adding other varieties in the days ahead.
The Deli is the brainchild of Al Helton who is co-owner of Charlie’s Beer Cheese. Helton ran a successful deli in Lexington that he sold years ago. He’s excited about bringing a deli to Carlisle and sees it as an opportunity to serve the community. The décor is casual and comfortable and will highlight historic pictures of Carlisle and Nicholas County. Free Wi-fi will also be available.
Besides soups, sandwiches and salads that customers can order to eat at the Deli, he will also be featuring dinners to go, starting with rotisserie chickens, and sides like pasta and potato salad and fresh baked yeast rolls.
Customers will be able to order Meat and Cheese trays for parties, and box lunches.
Pre-packaged meats that are Nicholas County grown and packaged at Marksbury Farms will also be sold frozen to take home. The Main Street Deli will offer inch and a quarter t-bone, rib eye, and porter house steaks as well as ground lamb and lamb shops.
The deli opens officially Friday May 6 and will be open 7:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Main Street Deli also plans to stay open late for school and community events.
