Bath County Band to perform for State Concert Band Performance Assessment

The 60-member Bath County High School Band, under the direction of Rob Rawlings, recently received Distinguished Ratings at the KMEA District 8 Concert Band Performance Assessment at Morehead State University. All four adjudicators scored the band Distinguished including three onstage music performance adjudicators and one sight-reading adjudicator. The band performed an eclectic array of music literature ranging from a traditional march, a classical transcription, to a contemporary overture and included reading a new piece of literature performed on first sight. This accomplishment qualified the Bath County High School Band for the KMEA State Concert Band Performance Assessment which will be held in Louisville. The band will perform at 4 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Comstock Hall on the campus of the University of Louisville. This is the third time in recent years the band has qualified and performed for at the state level. The band will close out this school year with a tentative performance in Owingsville’s May Day celebration May 14 and the Bath County High School graduation May 21. The 2015-2016 campaign has been a successful one with more than 45 performances for the school year.
