Chamber Tour helps promote Small Local Business Owners
The Fleming County Chamber of Commerce hosted a small business and shopping tour last Tuesday afternoon to help boost the support of small business owners in the community.
Local shop owners offered special discounts for those who participated in the days event.
More than 20 citizens took advantage of the chauffeur service provided by Kevin Cornette and Victory Assembly Church Pastor, Larry Joseph.
The event was just one of many ways the Chamber of Commerce helps promote business owners in the county.
Two Van loads of shoppers started their day with gift bags filled with goodies from the Chamber Office.
The tour route included stops at The Dinner Bell Country Market, Grimes Greenhouse, Curves of Flemingsburg, Lasting Impressions Flowers and Gifts, Hilltop Mall, The Picket Fence, Sims Dairy Queen, Fleming County Hospital Gift Shop, Encore Kids, Quality Appliance and Clark’s Outlet.
Several citizens from Fleming County as well as Mason County and a Representative from the Governors office enjoyed the opportunity to discover what local shops on the tour had to offer.
Janice Vice, owner of Curves in Flemingsburg said she thought the tour was a wonderful idea.
“I was really pleased with the number of people who stopped by Curves. The tour was a good way to introduce local businesses to the area,” Janice said.
Each customer who stopped by Curves during the tour will get a surprise in the mail.
“As a way to say thank you to those who visited Curves I am sending them a $5 gift certificate that can be used towards one of our products or enrollment fee,” Janice said.
Lasting Impressions Flowers and Gifts was also on the tour.
“The shopping tour was a good day for us at Lasting Impressions,” Jennifer Davis said “We enjoyed meeting those who participated in the event and look forward to seeing them again.”
Chamber director Crystal Ruark said the event was successful and plans are in the works for another tour in the near future.
“We had a great turnout and a wonderful time. The businesses were awesome to our shoppers,” Crystal said. “We do plan to offer another tour sometime in the fall,” she said. “I would like to say thank you to all the businesses that participated in this event and for offering our shoppers special discounts. A big thank you to Kevin and Larry for providing transportation and serving as our chauffeurs for the day and to Melanie Jones for an awesome job planning, organizing and serving as our host. Little Miss Reese Butler was wonderful as she modeled hats and shared the many treasures we have in our community with our guest,” Crystal added.
