Ewing Farmer wins State Hay Contest Awards

Mark Thomas of Ewing has won the Alfalfa/Grass division of the Kentucky Forage and Grassland Council’s Heart of America Grazing Conference Hay Contest for the months of July and August of 2015.

Thomas’ hay crop won the month of July with an overall total of 172.5 points and September with an overall total of 216.2 points. The Alfalfa and Alfalfa/Grass hay contest winner is determined by adding the Crude Protein and the Relative Feed Values of the submitted hay crops.

Thomas was recognized at the Kentucky Forage and Grassland Council’s Heart of America Grazing Conference that was held Jan. 26, 2016, in Lexington. Each year the state of Kentucky holds contests for hay, corn, and soybeans.
