Hazel Holler fans pack the house

The community room at the Fleming County Public Library was packed as fans gathered to hear Hazel Holler play some foot-stompin, toe-tappin’ bluegrass music.

The groups founder, Michelle Wallace, gave a warm welcome to those who came out for the evenings entertainment.

“ Hello Hazelnuts, it’s great to see all of you again, we are excited to be here. Isn’t it fun making noise in the library, Michelle said with a chuckle, then added, “This is the only time we get to make some noise in the library.”

Before the band began to play, a gentleman in the audience wanted to know where Michelle had gotten the Racoon hat that was tied to her bass.

Wallace then related the story of why the hat was attached to her instrument.

“Well, she began, “there was a feller that went coon huntin with a bunch of his buddies one night, and that’s him sitting on the front row; they caught the coon, cooked it and ate it and he tied the animals tail to my instrument, it’s been there ever since”.

With that said the band struck up a lively tune called “You are the Apple of my Eye.”

Throughout the evening the girls from Hazel Holler, Jackie Thacker,Tonya Adkins, Michelle and Tim Robinson performed several tunes including, “Ain’t Nobodies Business but Mine, Dance with me Darlin’ and Rolling in my Sweet Babies Arms.

Jackie Thacker picks a lively tune on the Banjo that her

daddy gave her for her 16th birthday while Tonya Adkins

plays the lead guitar.

Michelle Wallace jokes with Tim Robinson as she tells the fans he is the bearded lady of Hazel Holler.
