Fun events take place down on the Boulevard

More than 200 kids and adults passed through the Fleming County Public Library doors this past Tuesday as the third annual Petting Zoo got underway.

Lambs, goats, chickens, kittens, rabbits, a duck, a huge turkey and a dog named biscuit, waited patiently as parents stood in line with their children for a chance to pet the animals.

Charlotte Wagner, Youth Services Librarian said the petting zoo has been a popular event that she has looked forward to as much as the patrons.

“When I was little I lived in town and was never around animals. So I thought it would be a treat to have people in the Fleming County community to bring their small animals from their farm so that the kids who live in town would have a chance to see the animals too. Ms. Pease from the Fleming County High school was wonderful with helping out with this event, she asks her students to volunteer and be a part of the petting zoo,” Charlotte said.

Charlotte said she would like to add larger animals to the petting zoo like pigs, cows and horses in the near future.
