Blue Jean Ball set for May 21 at Three Silos Barn
It’s time to get your boots shined up to attend another one of Fleming County’s signature events.
The Second Annual Women’s Crisis Center’s Blue Jean Ball is set to take place on Saturday May, 21 at the Three Silos Barn in Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Nestled in the rolling hills of a rural Fleming County, the antique barn makes for a charming venue to host a country ball.
The loft area of the barn will be decked out with country decor; white tablecloths will adorn the tables, leather cowboy boots with fresh flowers tucked inside as centerpieces.
Last years event was such a huge success that committee members, Melissa Greenwell, Andrew Mitchell, Amy Hinton,Lisa Jackson and Jennifer Roe, decided to host the event at the same location.
“I think the decision to hold the Blue Jean Ball at Three Silos Barn worked so well for this event because it just fits Fleming County”, Greenwell said. “The atmosphere out in a rural, country setting felt perfect. Everyone sang the praises of the food, which was prepared by the owner’s of Three Silos and everyone really loved the band and they loved dancing on the wide plank floors. I think too that the Blue Jean Ball is just something so unique and different and something that Fleming County has never experienced before”, Greenwell said.
The Blue Jean Ball is an event that is organized by the Women’s Crisis Center to help raise funds for the services they offer.
“Last year we raised $6,000 at our Blue Jean Ball. We were so grateful for everyone who attended and helped out. We were shocked actually at the number of sponsors who came forward to help with the event. It is so important to us at the Women’s Crisis Center to be able to continue to provide services for victims of abuse or sexual assault,” Greenwell said.
Women’s Crisis Center offers a 24-hour hot-line, crisis intervention, emergency shelter, hospital & court advocacy, counseling, and pet protection to survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, rape & human trafficking.
Tickets to the Blue Jean Ball are $50 each for chance to enjoy a unique experience of great food, music and dancing.
At this years event you can enjoy some fine dining in the loft, live music by the Avery Glenn Crabtree band and bid on items that will be up for auction after the evening meal.
Social hour will take place in the loft at 6 p.m. where guest can mingle while they enjoy Gulf Shrimp Cocktail, Marinated Citrus Shrimp, Beer Cheese, a Benedictine Spread, and fresh vegetables, served with assorted crackers.
The evening meal, catered by Amy Hinton and Andrew Mitchell, will be served buffet style and will include a Spring Mix Salad, Charcoal Grilled Boneless Chicken Breast, Peach-wood Smoked Pulled Pork, Slow Cooked Country Style Green Beans, Loaded Mashed Potatoes, Yeast Roll, Iced Tea and Cheesecake with fresh fruit topping. The meat will be served with a choice of Cranberry BBQ Sauce, Banana Pepper Mustard and Sauce, or Hickory BBQ Sauce.
Items that have been donated by various businesses will be auctioned off after the meal and then the Avery Glenn Crabtree Band will take center stage for a night of live music and dancing.
“My husband Stacey and I really loved the Avery Glenn Band last year and we are looking forward to attending this years ball”, Terra Vice said.
Lisa Flora Jackson said she missed last years ball but has plans to attend this year.
“I am really really looking forward to going to the Ball this year. I really wanted to go last year but was having surgery at the time”, Jackson said. “Recently I have had the opportunity to work with Melissa, Andrew and Amy to help promote donations for the auction and ticket sales for the ball. I also had the privilege of taking a tour of the Women’s Crisis Center to help me better understand the centers purpose and mission. I feel very blessed for what I have after taking that tour and blessed even more so that I am able to do what I can to help the center”, Jackson said.
